Villa Damiana ****
Welcome to the Villa Damiana, over 300 years old authentic Istrian house that was owned by the same family for centuries. This luxurious stone villa is situated in the small village called Damijanići. It is a small charming village in which picturesque landscape Villa Damiana perfectly fits. The Villa has been recently restored in accordance with the tradition of building and life of our ancestors. It is modern equipped, and as a kind of combination of luxury and indigenous is open for our dear guests. Ten people can comfortably enjoy in the luxury accomodation of villa, beautiful landscape and intimacy of a typical Istrian village.
Through the history, the members of household lived of any craft and agricultural activities. For example, one descendant was widely known for its carpentry. He made nearly all the wood stuff needed for work in the field but also for the household, and some of these items still adorn the interior and the surrounding of villa. On the house wall there is a carved stone head, above which stands the inscription San Giacomo (St. James). It is still not known who placed the carved stone head on the wall of the house, but it is assumed to be installed during the construction of the house. There is a possibility that the owner respected and especially believed in Saint James the patron saint, and vowed to protect the house and the entire household. As Saint James is considered to be the patron of travelers and pilgrims, it is possible that the builder of the house was also the traveler and the pilgrim who settled in this small Istrian village. Therefore, there is no wonder that the house is today meant for travelers and guests who staying there can feel the positive energy.
